WATERFALLS OF TURGEN GORGE. KAIRAKSKY (BOZUL)

Earlier we wrote about the most accessible of the waterfalls of the Turgen Gorge — Bear Falls. Kairak waterfall is the most picturesque of them.
Kayrak Waterfall, or as it is also called Bozgul, is located at an altitude of 2130 meters. The road to it is 8 km, and climb — 464 meters. The waterfall itself drops a cascade of water from 55 meter peaks and impresses with its power!

How to get there?

The first point of our route to the waterfall is in the village of Batan. About 80 km to go from the city of Almaty to it. The village is located at the confluence of two rivers — Turgen and Kishi Kish Turgen. We go through it directly to the Assy plateau and pay 1000 tg at the entrance.
The sign «Waterfall 8 km.», Pointing to the right and tells you where to go next.
The car will need to be left here, but it must be borne in mind that it will not be guarded by anyone. Near the road there is a recreation area, parking in which costs about 500 tenge, but leaving the car here will be more reliable.

Further bridges await us through the turbulent and foamy river Turgen and the rise, with a length of 8 km.
But don’t be alarmed! The ascent to Kairak Falls is not steep, and for the next 7 km you can enjoy the beauty of dense fir trees, breathtaking landscapes and the purity of mountain air.

The route has about 7 bridges across the river, after which you will go out into the clearing. Here it is necessary to cross the boardwalk to the right bank and take a break before overcoming the last kilometer, and we strongly recommend a break. In the clearing even for this, benches and tables are provided. Why?

The last kilometer is a little more difficult, since the climb is steeper, and overcoming the previous 7 kilometers makes itself felt, but the tempting goal is to see the main waterfall of the Turgen Gorge gives strength.

Our end point is the observation deck of Kairaq Falls. Having gathered strength and climbed up there, he immediately forgets about his tiredness when he sees a stormy, foamy stream of water with a noise rushing down from the stones and a silvery cloud of ice spray enveloping him. Now you can put another tick in the list of natural attractions of Kazakhstan!

By the way, the famous Chinturgen Relict moss spruce trees, which are stored under dense moss, at a depth of 30-40 cm, are permafrost islands, where the ice thickness reaches two, or even three meters, also lie on the road to Kairak Falls!
