The city of Inelchek, now they call it a ghost, but once a stormy construction life was in full swing here!
The city began to be built in 1980, laying a beautiful and difficult road to it through the Chon-Ashuu pass, which lies at an altitude above 3800 meters above sea level. Breathtaking views will surround you all this difficult and beautiful way.
Once upon a time, rich deposits of tin, tungsten and other useful metals were found for the needs of the Soviet Union, and it was decided to build a whole city in this beautiful place. High-rise buildings, schools and kindergartens were erected.
But unfortunately, in 1989, the prospect of the existence of this city disappeared, like the Soviet Union itself.
All these houses did not have time to move in. The constructed ore processing plant was abandoned after only a few years of operation, and only a huge skeleton reminds us of the scale of the planned work.
Now a couple of dozen families live in Inelchek, who did not want to leave this place. Sometimes they can host tourists and climbers who go to Lake Merzbacher and the top of Khan Tengri. By the way, it is from Inelchek that they go to conquer Khan Tengri.
