Kirov reservoir

In the Talas region there is a monumental building of the Soviet era — this is the Kirov reservoir.

It was built from 1965 to 1975. According to a project unique at that time, so that it could withstand up to 9 magnitude earthquakes. The height of the dam is 84 meters.

The reservoir capacity reaches 550 million cubic meters. And the area is 2.5 thousand hectares, which allows it to support life on 55 thousand hectares of land. Also supply water to the Talas River year-round.

But the crown of the dam is a huge monument to V.I. Lenin. Mounted on top of the dam itself!
